A Little Bit About Me & How SkyBeauty Was Born

Hi, I'm Rachel, the owner of SkyBeauty & Laser Cork!

Beauty has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. It started with insisting on doing my own hair for ballet at the age of five — determined to perfect the ballet bun — and progressed to doing my poor Nana Neasa's makeup every chance I got. She was far too obliging and would leave the house looking somewhat like an Oompa Loompa. It was never really a question of whether I'd end up in this industry, just a matter of when.

I started training in 2018 and from there I just kept going, building up my skills across lashes, brows, SPMU, tanning, and eventually laser hair removal. I always had it in the back of my mind that I'd love to have my own salon someday, but I didn't think it would happen quite so soon.

Like a lot of people my age, Australia was the plan for a while. But when that didn't happen, I found myself scrolling through Daft one day and spotted a salon available in Bishopstown — the area I grew up in. I took it as a sign. I have photos of myself as a teenager hanging around outside that very building, and now at 27, I'm the owner of SkyBeauty & Laser Cork. It's something I'm incredibly proud of and I genuinely love what I do every single day.

Where Did the Name Come From?

For those wondering where SkyBeauty came from — if you're local to Bishopstown, there's a good chance you already know! My beautiful husky Skylar is a bit of a local celebrity around the area. She's always out and about with my dad, so many of you will have already crossed paths with her. She is my whole world, and the name SkyBeauty is inspired by her. 🐾
